Ani Shlishi hires at risk youth as salespeople, focusing on developing our participants within the store, guiding them through a process of experiential learning and skills acquisition involving retail sales, customer service, and problem-solving.
The acquisition of “general” retail skills provides a baseline work ethic and the people skills crucial for self advancement.
THE ADOPTING OF RESPONSIBILITY
As participants learn the many aspects of store operations, their responsibilities are steadily increased as they take on management duties. They are tasked with training newer participants, coordinating donation pickups and ensuring that the store runs smoothly.
A NEW PURPOSE
After working at Ani Shlishi's store, participants "graduate" to a vocational course of their choosing, fully funded through sales at our stores. This provides specific, marketable skills. Our program in its entirety provide confidence, self-esteem, and tools that will enrich and empower.
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY PRACTICES
The clothes we wear come with an environmental cost.
Just one cotton T-shirt requires approximately 700 gallons of water to produce. Each year, billions of pounds of textiles find themselves piling up in landfills. Ani Shlishi is doing its part to reduce environmental damage -- leading the charge in the sustainable shopping movement.
